Luxury Media Wall Design for Open-Plan Living
One of the most common questions we hear when designing open-plan kitchen and living spaces is:
How can we include a TV or media wall without losing the aesthetic of the room or disrupting the overall flow?
As interior design trends continue to prioritise open-plan living, homeowners increasingly want spaces that feel connected, elegant, and functional. The kitchen is no longer a separate working area hidden away from the rest of the home. Instead, it has become part of a larger social environment where cooking, relaxing, entertaining, and spending time together all happen within one cohesive space.
At the same time, technology has become an essential part of luxury interior design. Clients expect integrated entertainment systems, discreet smart home technology, and media features that enhance everyday living without dominating the room visually.
The challenge lies in balancing practicality with timeless design. Our goal for your kitchen is to create a space where people genuinely love to spend time.
A well-designed media wall should feel intentional, seamlessly integrated into the architecture and joinery of the room rather than appearing as an afterthought.

Technology integrated into living spaces has become a major priority for us in luxury home design.
Features such as concealed wiring, smart lighting, and built-in speakers demonstrate attention to detail and future-ready design. These upgrades can instantly make a home feel more refined, premium, and tailored to modern lifestyles.
A thoughtfully designed media wall also enhances the way people use a space. In many homes, entertainment areas naturally become gathering points where families and friends connect, relax, and spend quality time together.
Rather than competing with the kitchen or disrupting the flow of the room, a bespoke media wall should add to the overall experience of open-plan living.
Open-plan environments naturally encourage interaction between family members and guests. Someone cooking can still be part of conversations, children can play, and entertaining becomes far more sociable.

The key to integrating a TV into an open-plan kitchen-living space is ensuring it feels architecturally connected to the wider design.
This starts with understanding sightlines, proportions, and how the room will be used daily to ensure the media wall becomes part of the room that is connected. Our go-to design features of recent projects have included:
- Bespoke cabinetry that frames the television
- Recessed TV installations for a cleaner finish
- Textured wall panelling to soften visual impact
- Floating shelving and display spaces
- Integrated fireplaces
- Hidden storage for entertainment equipment
- Smart lighting integrated into joinery details
In this project in Cleadon, the media wall was designed as part of a fully bespoke open-plan kitchen and living area.
The television was recessed into custom cabinetry with integrated shelving and concealed storage, allowing the space to feel refined and uncluttered.
Warm timber finishes and layered soft lighting creates a luxurious contemporary feel.

For this Newcastle home, the goal was to create a multifunctional family space that felt elegant yet practical for everyday living.
The media wall cabinetry also included wine storage, and the finish complemented the kitchen to create an intentional and connected space.
This Morpeth project focused on creating a calm and architectural living space, using the media wall to zone the room.
One of the biggest advantages of us designing a media wall is the ability to fully customise how technology is incorporated into the room.
Unlike off-the-shelf solutions, bespoke joinery created in our own workshop allows every element to be designed around the architecture of the home and the client’s lifestyle.
Custom cabinetry can conceal wiring, routers, gaming systems and speakers while maintaining a clean and elegant appearance.
Materials, finishes, and proportions can then be matched to the wider kitchen and living design, helping the media wall feel like a natural extension of the room.
