The latest trend on home design websites is the coastal interior. Think beach vibes, natural elements, and soothing colours in your custom kitchen, bedroom or living room.
Here’s how to master the coastal interior trend:
Coastal colours
An easy way you can get the summer beach house effect is using pastel colours – a baby blue or a pale yellow could pull a full room together. A good way of bringing that across is having the colour on an accent wall. Paint one wall in your favourite pastel shade, hang some photos, push a white sofa against the wall and add some sandy beige cushions…. And you’re sorted with your beach summerhouse.
Lighten up your home
Another key way to capturing ocean vibes is lots of light: big windows and doors are an important aspect to creating the beachy look. An amazing way to bring in light would be to add sky lights into your ceiling, or to incorporate bi-fold glass doors into your kitchen design. This will open up the space and help to brighten up the entire room.
Beachy textiles
It’s simple to create a beach house feel in your living room or your bedroom. Start with your bedding, throws and cushions: the go-to-choice would be stripes, but you could also opt for a white crisp linen with a mixture of blue throws and cushions. Another way to pull the bedroom look together could be to add a beige wicker basket with rolled up spare blankets. This will give the room an organised and clean look.
Another way to add to the calming costal feel is to include an on-theme rug. Whether it be a small thin rug or a big fluffy rug, with light beige and blues in mind, you can create a calm seaside atmosphere right in your bedroom.
